The Triflo Top Outlet |
|||||||||||||||||||||
![]() |
In today’s sophisticated multi jet spa baths, It is often a struggle to fit all the tees, elbows, bends and Y’s under the bath. Triflo introduces a wonderful new plumbing freedom. By adding a top outlet to the conventional bath pump, it is possible to plumb from the front outlet, or the top outlet or both. When the bath jet water manifold allows water flow from the top outlet – and the front outlet – we see an immediate increase in water rate– in most cases an additional 40 litre water flow is achieved. Along the way we developed 2 fittings which make the plumbing job much easier – the Top Out tee and the Top Out 90 – allow a magical improvement in plumbing flexibility and speed. You will notice the plumbing installations is faster – because of the design freedom of pipe work, and a reduced number of fittings used to plumb to the jet manifold. The Triflo top Outlet allows you unprecedented flexibility in plumbing design. Extensive testing and research has shown that when the Top outlet is used in conjunction with the traditional front outlet – your spa bath jets leap into life with renewed vigour and performance. The increase in flow performance comes without increase in pump input power – the operating current remains the same, it is just that the water is allowed out of the pump casing with less restriction. Try plumbing the Main ring manifold to the pump front outlet, the backrest microjets at one end to the Top Outlet, and the remaining microjets to the other outlet from the Top Out Tee. |

And we did not stop there – we
developed the Top Out 90 to give you more options and freedom of
pipework flexibility.

AIR BLEED |

![]() |
An automatic Air Bleed is fitted into the top outlet – the air bleed tube is 9mm and Air Bleed poppet and seal are mounted vertically, so it works more efficiently, and the internal air passage size is large to allow rapid release of airlock condition. The Air Bleed Cap is moulded blank, and a simple drill operation opens the outlet port to release air. When the Top Out Tee or Top Out 90 are used – there is no need for the Air Bleed.

AUTO-HEAT |

![]() |
The TEFC electric motor is a simple and extremely reliable electric motor. Rather than develop a complex water jacketed motor – we designed a simple adaption of the TEFC motor and pump assembly. All electric motors produce heat – this is why they have external cooling fins and fans to prevent overheating. The hottest part of the motor is the front endshield – around the front bearing. With conventional design it is not possible to add fins around the bearing, and with close coupled pumps you cannot blow cooling air over this part of the endshield. In conventional pump design a substantial air gap exists between the pump backplate and the motor endshield. With TriFlo we have extended the endshield forward and the pump backplate rearward to make thermal contact. Some of the water from the impeller is tracked to wash down inside the backplate, passing a cooling stream of water over the backplate-endshield interface and cooling the bearing, collecting excess motor heat and at the same time warming the water in the bath. The water does not pass outside the pump casing – the heat transfer occurs naturally as a result of the TriFlo backplate/endshield design. Up to 80% of the motor excess heat can be recovered - warming the water while cooling the motor. This is Auto-Heat, and is covered by International patents. Auto heat provides a heat recovery system with the integral proven reliability of TEFC electric motor design.

XTRA-HEAT |

For more heat input – in existing pump designs an immersion element is installed in the water flow close to the discharge port.
Extensive testing shows that these immersion elements disrupt the water flow by up to 25%.We have developed our XTRA-HEAT pump model which does not disrupt water flow.
A revolutionary new “Flat Plate” design stainless steel 700 watt heater element is built into the pump backplate and fitted behind the impeller. Extensive research and development has refined the process and captured the full power of the element to heat the water. This powerfull heater element fitted is out of the high velocity water flow path and provides no disruption to pump flow. Extensive research and development has refined the process to provide a controlled wash of water past the element and shaft seal to collect the heat and pass it on to the spa.
Our XTRA-HEAT heater assembly is patented and covered by International patents.

Spa Pump Control Systems |
|||||||||||||||||||||
![]() |
Most spa bath pumps are operated by an air switch – which uses a button mounted on the side of the bath to send a pulse of air down to the pump, where it is sensed and turns the pump on or off.
All TriFlo pumps are available with air switch operation – however we introduce two exciting new pump control systems SENSA-TOUCH & SPA-KEY. SENSA-TOUCH Mounted on the side of the spa bath is a small touchpad control panel. This control panel operates the pump and heater by a low Voltage cable to the control box. The cable operates at low voltage and is electrically isolated to ensure the optimum safety protection for the user. The SENSA-TOUCH panel features low pressure high tactile switches to provide excellent “feel” for the user, and LED indicator lights show Power ON, LIGHT ON, and HEATER Operation. The internal control system features automatic pump shutdown under no water condition.

SPA-KEY |

The SPA-KEY is a unique radio operated remote control system which is housed in an immersible casing. The SPA-KEY operates the pump, and heater – and has additional buttons to switch on a Spa Blower and Light – all in the one small casing. The SPA-KEY is installed on the wall near the door in a moulded housing, from where it can operate any of the four functions of the highly sophisticated spa bath. The SPA-KEY can be removed from the housing and carried around the bathroom to provide a sophisticated control function even while you are relaxing inside the bath. The SPA-KEY will even function underwater – although we do not encourage submersion. The SPA-KEY has a replaceable long life battery. The SPA-KEY will reliably operate your pump up to 6 metres – through plaster, timber and brick walls. Metal walls are a barrier to radio signals – and if you bath is installed inside a tin shed, and the pump outside – an optional antenna extension may be required to ensure reliable switching. Radio Remote Control systems usually have the disadvantage of switching on the neighbours pump, or multiple pumps in commercial applications. Not so with SPA-KEY – our engineers have employed a sophisticated Rolling Code digital signal system – which operates as follows. When the SPA-KEY handset is operated – it sends out a digital signal containing a sophisticated code. The receiver “hears” the signal and a tiny computer – a microprocessor checks the code to make sure that it has been sent from its matched SPA-KEY handset. If the code matches, the computer determines which button is pressed, and sends the decoded signal to the main processor board where a second microprocessor switches the appropriate function – pump, heater, blower or light on or off. Now here is the really clever bit. Every time any one of the SPA-KEY buttons are pressed, and the signal sent and received, the rolling code is changed to a different digital sequence. The next time the same button is operated – it sends a different code. The receiver microcomputer is looking for the next code in the sequence – it is no longer accepting the original code. This occurs every time a button is operated. It is called rolling code digital signature – and is a refined and sophisticated system used in security systems around the world. The transmitter – which is also a clever microcomputer – must be matched to the receiver – which is accomplished by pressing the reset button at the back of the pump, and pressing the PUMP key on the SPA-KEY handset within 30 seconds. This is normally done during assembly so that the SPA-KEY handset matches the pump. The RESET button can also be used to match a replacement handset to the pump should one become lost or broken. The main control microprocessor also contains a sophisticated temperature control sensor and integrated pressure switch. The pressure switch features no water protection operating through the computer program, ensuring that if there is no water in the bath, the pump will shut down – and the heater is prevented from turning on. All the things you would expect and hope for in a modern, sophisticated appliance.
The TriFlo PUMP, with top outlet, and with AUTO-HEAT, XTRA-HEAT, SENSA-TOUCH, and SPA-KEY represents the most innovative complete and sophisticated spa bath control system available on the market TriFlo is truly the “NEXT GENERATION” in pump and control systems. |
